Internationally renowned pianist Kenny Broberg played a special Countdown to the Cliburn concert in Lake Park.
It was an honor to host the world-renowned pianist and 2017 Cliburn Silver Medalist in advance of the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition!
This special concert was part of the Countdown to the Cliburn preview series leading up to the international piano competition in Fort Worth this summer. This was a fun way to kick off this year’s Lake Park music series on a beautiful spring Sunday afternoon.
The concert at Lake Park was just one of a series of 12 free concerts around Fort Worth over the course of 8 weeks leading up to the 16th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in June. If you missed the concert at Walsh, check out the Cliburn website for the schedule of other upcoming concerts counting down to the competition.
We are committed to education and an appreciation of the arts, so it was an honor host this incredible musician and to have the Cliburn Kids inspire a love of music in our youngest residents.
About The Cliburn
Widely considered one of the preeminent international music contests, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition advances classical piano music throughout the world.
Established in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1962, the quadrennial competition remains committed to its original ideals of supporting and launching the careers of emerging artists.
It’s been 60 years since the first notes of the competition were played in Fort Worth. And now the time has come for the 2022 competition. Out of 388 applicants, 30 of the world’s top emerging pianists have been selected to come to Fort Worth this June to compete for gold.
The sixteenth edition of the competition will take place June 2–18, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas at Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU for the preliminary and quarterfinal rounds, and Bass Performance Hall for the semifinal and final rounds.
The concert in Lake Park was a free event for our residents to enjoy. The Cliburn is also generously offering us a special discount for all semifinal round concerts at Bass Performance Hall June 8-12. Current Walsh residents can check the HOA page for information on the discount prior to purchasing tickets for the competition in June.
