The development group behind the new $6 billion, 7,200-acre Walsh master-planned community in Fort Worth has opened a pop-up storefront in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square to temporarily serve as the neighborhood hub for the project.
The store will showcase Walsh’s initial development phase, which includes the construction of several model homes, at the development site near where Interstate 20 and I-30 merge, which sits 12 minutes west of the city’s central business district.
By bringing the Walsh neighborhood experience to downtown Fort Worth, the partnership between Dallas-based Republic Property Group and the Walsh family can honor the land’s history and showcase the day in the life of a future Walsh residents, said Jake Wagner, co-CEO of Republic Property Group.
The initial phase of Walsh will total 1,700 acres with a projected build-out cost of $1.6 billion. In all, Wagner said he expects the initial phase to have a 12- to 15-year build out.
“We think this will include homes as well as commercial development,” said the 30-something executive previously told the Dallas Business Journal. “With the entire 7,200 acres, we have to see how it develops over time, but it could include major commercial corporate campuses or medical uses or other uses.
“The market will determine that in the next 30- to 40-years, which I hope to see if I’m lucky,” Wagner said.
The Sundance Square pop-up shop at the corner of Houston Street and 4th Street will feature some of the timeless architecture from Fort Worth’s own stately neighborhoods, which will be incorporated into the new master-planned community.
At build-out, Walsh will total about 15,000 homes on the large swath of Texas land. The initial phase includes a total 587 homes with prices beginning in the upper $200,000s.
Wagner also plans to soon announce a list of custom and estate homebuilders that will build in the community.
The new Sundance Square storefront will open on April 10 with virtual reality tours of the neighborhood giving would-be buyers a glimpse into the community amenities.
Before Walsh was conceived, the site was the headquarters of the F. Howard Walsh Family ranching operations for more than 70 years. Since its inception, the ranch has been a working cattle operation.
F. Howard Walsh III said the new community, which will center on the 15,000 homes, is part of the family’s continuing commitment to the region.
