The barricades were raised for good Thursday on the 1,700-acre first phase of Walsh in West Fort Worth, as the developer ran a soft opening and showed off several model homes built around a park and an Aledo public elementary school under construction.

The high-end homes showed off the latest in amenities, including open floor plans with living spaces bringing the outside in via all-glass pocket doors; big game and media rooms; and home office suites with separate entries.

Production homes range between $300,000 and $700,000.

All of the builders will follow six architectural styles – Tudor, Craftsman, Mediterranean, Texas Vernacular (Hill Country-inspired), Transitional, and Colonial Revival – laid out in an unusual 130-page pattern book that the developers put together from an examination of Fort Worth neighborhoods.

Walsh’s builders for the first phase, all production builders, are Toll Brothers, David Weekly Homes, Drees Homes, Highland Homes and Village Homes. HGC has joined the development as a production and custom builder in the first phase.

Walsh has not yet announced the remainder of the builders for its custom lots.
