Perhaps you’ve heard about Walsh.

The much-anticipated new neighborhood being built in west Fort Worth just 12 minutes from downtown? As the community readies to open up model homes and lot sales to homebuyers April 27, the team behind Walsh has also planted temporary roots in Sundance Square at the northeast corner of Houston and W 4th Street.

The Walsh storefront, located at 172 W 4th Street, serves as a one-stop shop for all things Walsh: hosting presales meetings with prospective homebuyers and homebuilders, offering augmented reality tours of the neighborhood, and connecting with realtors and the community through a series of downtown events. Whether you’re interested in a home at Walsh or just window shopping around the square, you’ll definitely want to stop (Monday-Saturday; hours vary, so check the schedule) to learn more about this one-of-a-kind Fort Worth community.

“Bringing the Walsh neighborhood experience to downtown Fort Worth is a unique opportunity to honor the history and making of this development, and gives us the chance to showcase a day in the life at Walsh to people as they’re enjoying the shops, restaurants, and events in Sundance Square,” said Jake Wagner, Co-CEO of Republic Property Group, the lead developers working in partnership on the community with the Walsh family.

At full build-out, Walsh will be the size of a small town. The neighborhood is centered in west Fort Worth where Interstate 20 and I-30 merge, off of Exit 1A (Walsh Ranch Parkway). The initial phase of the development features hundreds of single-family homes, an elementary school, a market, a gym and multiple pools, a co-working building, a Makerspace, miles of hike and bike trails, and a host of other amenities serving the neighborhood’s new residents.

Fort Worth’s Next Great Neighborhood

Homes at Walsh are priced from the upper $200,000s, and follow a carefully curated selection of architectural styles. “We want to create a sense of place at Walsh that still feels relevant 100 years from now,” Wagner said. There are a variety of styles available that will appeal to different homeowner tastes, including Arts and Crafts, Colonial, Mediterranean, Texas Vernacular, Transitional, and Tudor designs–all chosen because of their timeless beauty and historical reflection of the distinctive homes throughout Fort Worth. The 587 home sites in the initial development phase range from 3,850 square feet to nearly an acre, and are all within a five-minute walk of a community park.

The team at RPG has carefully selected homebuilders for Walsh’s initial phase, too. Wagner mentioned having a mix of local, regional and national homebuilders as a key strength in offering a variety of home types, with something for everyone. Interested homebuyers can contact David Weekley Homes, Drees Custom Homes, HGC Residential Development, Highland Homes, Village Homes, Toll Brothers, or stop by the Walsh storefront in Sundance Square to learn more about building a home at Walsh. A limited number of custom estate lots will also be available at Walsh, with an announcement of custom builders to come in the next few weeks.

Heart of the Community

In designing Walsh, Wagner said the team thought long and hard about the amenities needed by residents of a small town. For that reason, the first phase at Walsh will debut later this year with not only homes, but The Village–a place to bring people together for entertainment, education, fitness, food, events and more. Among the unique community amenities at Walsh are a market and filling station, a 10,000-square-foot gym and Junior Olympic lap pool, family pools and a recreational lagoon, a co-working space, sports courts of all kinds, Imagination Playgrounds, and a Makerspace.

A Town with Technology

Homes at Walsh are wired with fastest internet speeds in the country. Yes, you read that right! To create a modern neighborhood that would be relevant decades from now, the team at Walsh installed a world-class fiber infrastructure to support connected homes, as well as future businesses and growth in the area. Homes are equipped with 2-gigabit internet speeds from provider Frog as the standard; making internet connectivity at Walsh twice as fast as any residential internet you’d find elsewhere in North Texas. And, homeowners won’t even see an internet bill. Wagner says that internet service costs will be included in HOA fees.

>Being Outside is Good For You

Walsh observes what Wagner calls a “careful balance of the relationship between technology of nature,” and the development team has dedicated more than one-third of the land at Walsh to be set aside as community parks or open space. Encouraging residents to tap into the fundamental human need to be outdoors is important, and evident in the neighborhood’s plans for multiple parks, miles of hike and bike trails, gardens and more. The team at Walsh is even working to preserve and reestablish open spaces in the community with the planting of native grasses, trees and landscaping, in partnership with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.

Learning is an Ageless Pursuit

Residents in the initial homes at Walsh will be zoned for Aledo ISD, and for families with young children a new elementary school opening in the Walsh neighborhood this fall is certain to be a draw. Outside of the classroom, the Walsh team says the vision is to create a community with opportunities for learning, entrepreneurship and idea-sharing across all generations. As the first community in the country to build a Makerspace from the ground up–think, shop class meets 3D printing–Walsh will offer the tools, technology, workspace and resources so students, hobbyists and tinkerers “can actually make stuff.”
